Spinal Tech

Expanding Orthopedics has received FDA clearance for its FLXfit. Here are three things to know about the company and its newly cleared device.

1. FLXfit is the world's first 3D expandable interbody cage cleared for commercialization in the United States, according to a company news release. The cage is designed for minimally invasive spine surgery and maximum footprint support. The device has a large bone graft chamber with lordotic expansion for sagittal balance correction, said Expanding Orthopedics CEO Ofer Bokobza, in the news release.

2. "I don't know of any other cage commercially available in the United Sates combining this many critical and beneficial features as the FLXfit," said Expanding Orthopedics director and spine surgeon Hansen Yuan, MD, in the news release. "[The] real revolution of the FLXfit is the combination of these features with the unique lordotic expansion technology, which enables an optimal press fit while restoring the anatomy of the spine and lordotic angle correction."

3. Expanding Orthopedics is a medical device company focused on developing and marketing products designed to fill unmet clinical needs for spine care. The company's portfolio focuses on anatomically fit expandable devices.
