Study: Use of Bacterin's OsteoSponge Bone Graft Results in 97.4% Fusion Rate for Foot, Ankle Procedures

Bacterin announced that clinical outcomes of the use of its OsteoSponge bone graft for foot and ankle fusion procedures have been published in the March issue of Orthopedics.

The journal article reports a prospective analysis of 25 patients who underwent foot and ankle arthrodesis involving 45 total joints.

 

According to the study, 96 percent of patients showed radiographic fusion at 6 and 12 months after the procedure, with a 97.4 percent overall fusion rate. Pain was assessed pre and postoperatively and statistically significant improvements were recorded at 6 and 12 months after surgery, as compared to preoperative pain scores.
