7 Spine-Focused Device Company Financial Reports

Medtronic Spine reported 12 percent revenue decrease in bone morphogenic protein products in the first quarter of the 2014 fiscal year. Revenue for core spine and BMP dropped from $786 million last year to $765 million this year for the quarter.

Globus Medical reported 11.5 percent increase in net sales for the second quarter of this year over the same period last year. However, net income dropped to $7.4 million from $19 million.

Exactech reported spine revenue up 6 percent during the second quarter of 2013 to $12.9 million. However, the company's revenue in the knee, extremity and hip markets all decreased.

 

SpineGuard reported a 27 percent jump in revenue for the first half of 2013. The company's United States sales increased 30 percent and it added 11 distributors and 17 U.S. institutions over the past quarter.

 

Stryker's spine and neurotechnology devices had a sales increase of 5.4 percent in the second quarter to $414 million in 2013. The company's overall net earnings dropped 34.5 percent, however, according to a company report.

Biomet spine sales dropped from $82 million in 2012 to $67 million in 2013. The entire company's year-end net sales totaled $31. billion, up 7.6 percent over 2012, according to a company report.

NuVasive announced a second quarter revenue increase of 7.3 percent in 2013, reaching $165.7 million. However, the company reported GAAP net loss of $6.5 million and a $7.9 million charge related to royalty accruals in connection with the company's patent litigation with Medtronic.
