Johnson & Johnson's 1Q Orthopedics Sales Up 59%

DePuy Synthes Spine parent company Johnson & Johnson reported the acquisition of Synthes and subsequent divestiture of the DePuy trauma business contributed to a 5.7 percent worldwide operational sales growth in the first quarter of 2013. Company Chairman and CEO Alex Gorsky said the acquisition of Synthes contributed to the company's first quarter success. The company's overall orthopedics sales reached $2.3 billion in the first quarter, a 59 percent increase. Sales in the United States increased 61 percent in 2013.
