Medtronic Will Provide Physicians, Hospitals — Not Patients — With Implant Data

Spinal Tech

Medtronic said it isn't required to provide patients with data collected from its implants, but the company has created a business unit to find new markets for the data it's collecting, according to Biz Journals. Such new markets include health systems or insurers willing to purchase the information.

Medtronic's implant customers are the physicians, not the patients, according to the report. Rules prohibit the device company from giving the data to anyone but the physician or hospital.
