Here are 10 orthopedic and spine device companies that have acquired other device companies this year.
The board of directors for Alphatec Holdings approved the company's plan to acquire certain assets of Phygen, an Irvine, Calif.-based spine implant manufacturer, for $15.2 million in stock and cash.

Biomet closed on its deal to acquire the worldwide trauma business of DePuy Orthopaedics, after DePuy's parent company Johnson & Johnson acquired orthopedics and spine device company Synthes earlier this year.

Mindray Medical completed its acquisition of Wuhan Dragonbio Surgical Implant's orthopedics business for $35.5 million.

Medtronic announced it will acquire Chinese orthopedic device manufacturer China Kanghui Holdings for $816 million.

Orchid Medical acquired the surgical implant business from Workers' Implantable Network, which partners with providers to manage patient care and cost containment on orthopedic devices and spinal cord stimulators.

Precision Spine purchased Spinal USA and Precision Medical of Mississippi for approximately $72 million to enhance company growth.

Global life sciences and materials sciences company Royal DSM acquired Kensey Nash for $360 million after Kensey Nash board of directors unanimously recommended the offer from DSM to acquire all outstanding company shares.

Spine Wave completed a definitive agreement to acquire Santa Clara Technology, which develops technology for expandable titanium interbody cage platforms.

Stryker recently signed a definitive agreement to acquire stent maker Surpass Medical for $135 million.

Global medical device company Tornier signed a definitive agreement to acquire OrthoHelix Surgical Designs for $135 million plus additional payments over two years.
