Exactech Reports 21% Decline in 4Q Spine & Biologics Sales

Gainesville, Fla.-based orthopedic device company Exactech recently announced fourth quarter revenues of $53.1 million, a 2.5 percent increase over the fourth quarter of 2010, according to a company news release. In its preliminary report, Exactech announced a full year sales increase of 8 percent to $205.4 million in un-audited revenues. The company's full year knee implant revenue increased by 5 percent to $80.1 million and hip implant revenues in creased 17 percent to $33.7 million. The largest growth was reported in the extremities business, which increased revenue by 33 percent to $39.9 million, which off-set the biologic and spine segment drop of 13 percent.

For the fourth quarter of 2011, the company reported a 21 percent decrease in biologic and spine revenue to $5.9 million and a 2 percent decrease in knee revenue to $20.1 million. However, extremities and hip implant revenues increased by 29 percent and 13 percent, respectively.
