Ivinson Memorial Hospital adopts da Vinci Xi Surgical System: 5 takeaways

MIS

Laramie, Wyo.-based Ivinson Memorial Hospital installed Intuitive Surgical's da Vinci Xi Surgical System, according to the Wyoming Business Report.

Here are five takeaways:

1. The da Vinci Xi Surgical System will be used by physicians in different departments throughout the hospital, giving them more precise movements and detailed information during minimally invasive procedures.

2. The system includes two components: the instruments attached to the operating table and the console where the surgeon sits in front of 3-D images of the surgery.

3. Physicians who have previously used the system said it allowed them to have greater range of motion than their own wrists and patients have experienced quicker recovery time.

4. All surgeons are required to complete training before using the da Vinci Xi Surgical System. The hospital hopes this additional training will help recruit specialists in the future.

5. Invinson Memorial Hospital plans to start using the robot by the end of October.
