Medtronic releases Signia Stapling System — 4 observations

MIS

Ireland-based Medtronic released the Signia Stapling System, a device expected to improve the quality of minimally invasive surgeries.

Here are four things to know:

1. The Signia is the latest addition to Medtronic's MIS devices portfolio and provides surgeons with real-time feedback and automated responses to relevant data.

2. The system's adaptive firing technology allows it to automatically adjust the stapler's speeds based on tissue measurements.

3. Surgeons are able to use the Signia with only one hand, freeing up their other hand to stay focused on the surgical site.

4. The Signia is set to initially launch in the U.S., Western Europe and Japan before arriving at other global geographies in 2018.
