Joseph Purita, MD, medical director of The Institute of Regenerative & Molecular Orthopedics in Boca Raton, Fla. and medical director of StemMD, began research in stem cell therapy eight years ago. His work with stem cells in musculoskeletal procedures has demonstrated promising results. Dr. Purita has recently formed a network, StemMD, which invites orthopedic groups to explore the results of his work and try the stem procedures for themselves.
Dr. SchlegelTheodore Schlegel, MD, board-certified orthopedic surgeon, is a founding partner and fellowship director of the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic Denver (Colo.). He currently serves as the team physician for the Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies. Dr. Schlegel is also a clinical assistant professor of orthopedics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. He has expertise in sports medicine and knee and shoulder injuries.
Kevin Foley, MD, a board-certified neurosurgeon, will present DiscGenics' recent findings in a lecture titled "Initial In Vivo Efficacy of a Novel Injectable Cellular Therapy for Degenerative Disc Disease" at the annual Lumbar Research Society meeting.
