52% of Organizations May Engage Employee Health Through Online, Mobile Games

Fifty-two percent organizations are considering adopting online or mobile games to promote health engagement amongst their employees in the next three years, according to a survey called "Emerging Technology in Health Engagement," by WorldatWork and Buck Consultants.
For the survey, researchers polled 408 organizations across a broad cross-section of industries between October and November 2012. After cleaning and duplicates were removed, the final data set contained 368 responses.

Other key findings of the survey are:

•    Seventy-three percent of responding organizations had a health engagement strategy to encourage employees to improve and monitor their health.
•    Thirty-six percent of surveyed employers reported using one or more elements of mobile technology to promote employee health engagement, and 36 percent likely will adopt one or more new elements in the coming year.
•    Thirty-two percent use mobile technology for healthcare benefits, and an additional 52 percent may add this technology within the next three years.
•    Fifty percent of surveyed employers report using one or more social networking or social media elements to promote health engagement to employees, and 37 percent likely will adopt one or more new elements in the coming year.
