A campaign in Chicago will allow physicians to text information about concussions and other football injuries to athletes, coaches and parents, according to a news release.
The Football Tips Campaign is an initiative of Healthy TXT, an organization co-founded by sports medicine orthopedic surgeon Vishal Mehta, MD. Participants include sports medicine physicians, neurologists, surgeons and various organizations.
Participating physicians aim to raise awareness about football injuries by texting educational concussion messages, football injury prevention information, performance tips and motivational messages once or twice a week. The STOP Sport Injuries campaign, a program of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will provide the content for the texts.
