The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., will receive a grant of more than $3 million from the National Human Genome Research Institute to integrate genomic discoveries into electronic medical records, according to a hospital news release.
Mayo Clinic researchers will incorporate recent advances in the genetics of heart and blood vessel diseases in EMRs to help physicians assess patients' risk of having these diseases.
The grant is part of the second phase of the Electronic Medical Records and Genomics Network (eMERGE), a multi-site project that aims to use data from medical records in genome-wide association studies.
