Orthopedic Surgeons Use iPod Touch App During Knee Replacements

Health Information Technology

Orthopedic surgeons are now able to use an iPod Touch app to assist during total knee replacements, according to a KNDO report. Fabio Orozco, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in knee procedures, recently used the technology to improve the accuracy of cuts and implant alignment during a total knee replacement procedure. According to the report, orthopedic surgeons use the app to create a three dimensional model of the patient's anatomy and can be used to ensure everything is in place after the procedure as well.
