The Health Resources and Services Administration plans to provide $1.9 million in funding for a network of telehealth resource centers, according to a mHIMSS report.
HRSA is administering the grants through the Telehealth Resource Center Grant Program — a competitive grant program that funds projects that demonstrate the use of telehealth networks to improve healthcare services. The grants will be provided to healthcare organizations, networks and/or providers in amounts totaling $300,000 for the national center and $325,000 for each regional center, according to the report. To receive the grants, the telehealth programs must serve rural and medically underserved areas.
HRSA intends for the grants to result in five additional regional centers and one national center, according to the report. The deadline to apply for the grants, which are renewable for as many as three years, is Feb. 25.
