Fifty-five percent of physicians have adopted an electronic health record system and three-quarters of those adopting physicians report it's resulting in enhanced patient care, according to a recent National Center for Health Statistics study.
The NCHS's 2011 physician workflow study also revealed that three-quarters of physicians who have adopted an EHR system reported it meets federal meaningful use criteria. Moreover, a majority of physicians who have adopted EHRs are either somewhat satisfied (47 percent) or very satisfied (38 percent) with how they function.
Of the physicians surveyed who have yet to adopt an EHR system, nearly half said they plan to do within the next year.
