A Deloitte report has found that 85 percent of physicians believe electronic health records are valuable for quality and improvements for patient care however, more than 65 percent of physicians do not believe EHRs improve diagnosis accuracy or treatment planning, according to a Deloitte news release.
Other findings show some physicians are slow to implement health information technology:
• Twenty percent of physicians provide online scheduling or tests results for patients;
• Six percent of physicians use social media to communicate with patients;
• Only 25 percent of physicians are "on target" to meet meaningful use incentives.
