At the 19th Annual Ambulatory Surgery Centers Conference in Chicago, Rebecca S. Twersky, MD, MPH, professor and vice chair of research in the department of anesthesiology and medical director of the ambulatory surgery unit at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, will give a presentation titled "Key Trends in Ambulatory Anesthesia." The session will discuss coming trends for anesthesia in the ambulatory surgery setting. Dr. Twersky earned her medical degree from SUNY and completed her residency training at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Twersky received the Society of Ambulatory Anesthesia Distinguished Service Award in 2005. She is a past president of the organization, which includes more than 5,000 physicians. More recently, she led a 25 multiorganizational effort for the FDA 2010 RFA evaluating safety and science of Clinical Sedation Products and has served as an advisory liaison and representative to major accrediting organizations.

The conference will take place Oct. 25-27, bringing together surgeons, physician leaders, administrators and ASC business and clinical leaders to discuss how to improve your ASC and its bottom line as well as how to manage challenging clinical, business and financial issues.
